Synopsis: “Security is an important factor in artistic work, especially the fear of security. Or the fear of insecurity. But above all, the fear of an ambivalence between the two.” The video work Kafka Kolor shows Franz Wanner as a public relations agent switching back and forth between art and the insurance business. In a sales speech, he mixes terms from the field of art discourse with insurance jargon as he advertises for innovative new products like the “occupational disability insurance against a lack of inspiration.” Spectators are addressed directly as a potential clients and manipulated with the aid of a Kafkaesque tie pattern, as is customary in this line of business. “We sell fear.”
