Synopsis: Part of the narrative cycle “Toxin – Antitoxin. Clinical pictures of a town”

“A pump room is a transformer, a steel-hard shell in which something is converted: a deficit into a potential, an affront into an asset.” In the 20th century, spa guests gargled iodine water and drank for their health in the pump room. Curative treatments have changed and the belief in iodine has evaporated. The hall has been lying idle for a long time. Afterimages of the masses of ailing visitors stroll through the building – film projections that the Jod AG Bad Tölz commissioned in the 1920s. Those cure seekers are superimposed by representatives of the present-day world of employment. Rolling on Segways through the former temple of healing they examine its applicability. The images are structured by a voice that correlates past and present perspectives: „Do modified forms of activity lead to new qualities of injury? How can healing be staged so as to reflect digital clinical pictures? What agent opens up new circles to the crisis?”
