Too Close Too Far

Director: Elke Marhöfer    → show biography
Country: Japan
Year: 2020
Synopsis: TOO CLOSE, TOO FAR is a gathering of moments of a multispecies household in Japan. Beyond the linearity of a narrative, the camera follows passivities and activities of this micro ecology. Overshadowed by the death of one, and the sickness of another inhabitant, the film images weave themselves into the rhythm of the vital instability of the everyday—whereas the sound connects to us the life of the wider surrounding. The film is part of international post-doc at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Global Environment Studies in association with Gothenburg University, Valand Academy 2016-2019. Additional support provided by the Swedish Research Council.
